WAG Wellbeing Animals Guernsey
The annual '10 weeks 10 parishes' walk was open to all dogs and their owners with the 2024 initiative starting in September and taking place every Sunday afternoon.
The final walk was for those dogs who have been on all nine of the previous walks and included a run round the grounds at Government House and tea and cake in the garden, presided over by Honorary President, Mustard Cripwell and their patron Harvey Brink, both of which you can see on the front photograph with their 'mum's, Louise and Nicky.
From their website: WAG therapy dogs and their owners regularly visit a variety of establishments. These include most of the wards at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, many residential and care homes, day centres and schools. Just stroking a friendly and kind dog can bring feelings of comfort and can reduce stress levels or anxiety. Often they can improve the quality of life for dementia sufferers, sometimes triggering long supressed emotions and memories. Young pupils in schools will often gain confidence reading aloud to a friendly dog and in other situations the animals have a calming influence on children with anxiety.
