The Royal Commonwealth Society Guernsey
His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell met members of 25 Commonwealth Countries when they held a reception at Government House for the Guernsey Royal Commonwealth Society. Some of the countries were able to attend in force with several members from Kenya, Zambia and Bangladesh and some, like New Zealand and Malaysia had solitary figures waging the flag for their country.
The walled garden made a beautiful backdrop for the brightly coloured guests, many of which had attended in National Dress although some apparently hadn't worn them for many years.
His Excellency led the crowd in singing one verse of the National Anthem accompanied by Nick, the bagpiper and then raised a loyal toast before welcoming the guests to Government House and to the island.
Thanks to Chris George for the photographs.
