Teddy Bear's Picnic

Home-Start Guernsey provides emotional and practical support to parents struggling to meet the demanding needs of their children and families for whatever reasons. For some parents, it's particularly difficult because they are also coping with with issues such as post-natal depression, their own or their child's illness, disability, isolation or multiple births. They are carefully matched with a volunteer who visits them in their home regularly and gives them parent to parent support, enabling these families to get back on track.

Home-Start also runs the Dragonflies Family Group Sessions that provides activities with a dedicated play leader, giving children under 5 years a chance to socialise and the parents a well-earned cup of tea in a warm and inclusive environment.

The Inner Wheel Club of Guernsey has an wonderful record of service to the community, raising money for charitable projects across the island and giving practical help where they can.

The Teddy Bear's Picnic is being hosted by the Inner Wheel who are coming together to provide fun and activities for the children who use the Home-Start program. They will bring a colourful parachute and hoops and games and even a story-teller for some quiet time under the tree. Mrs Cripwell is the patron of inner Wheel and, although she and the Lieutenant-Governor are off island that week, she was very pleased to be able to support their work by letting the use the grounds of Government House, giving them privacy and safety for the children.
