Scout Celebration at Castle Cornet
His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell attended the event on 24 April.
As patron of the Guernsey Scouting Association, His Excellency was asked to join the Guernsey Scouts for a Special Event to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and St George's Day.
The scouts took part in a service of celebration at the Town Church prior to the Lieutenant-Governor and his wife joining them at Castle Cornet in the afternoon.
Each age section of Scouts had different activities for the afternoon before they are all assembled for an award presentation where His Excellency had been invited to present the awards.
The weather was perfect for them despite the usual Guernsey effort to derail their plan by pouring with rain in the morning and the scouts were able to do all their planned outdoor activities.
Talking to His Excellency afterwards, he commented on how impressed he was with the whole planning and arrangements as he hadn't known what to expect and was surprised at the size of the scouting organisation in Guernsey. Hundreds of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network Volunteers took part in the event. His Excellency very much looks forward to taking part in other events across the next five years.
