Opening of an Exhibition: Linda Martorella
Guernsey Arts newest exhibition at their gallery in Guernsey Museum is from Linda Martorella, an artist who is passionate about the human form and the connections made through life drawing.
As patron of Guernsey Arts and a lover of all forms of artwork, Mrs Cripwell was pleased to attend the opening and have a chance to talk to the artist herself.
At the entrance to the exhibition, the work is described as below:
Entanglement
In this exhibition, narratives are woven through bold, conceptual, figurative paintings. Using oils, acrylics and mixed media, the collection aims to communicate beauty and complexity from the depths of human form. Painting ‘a passage from the chaos of the emotions to the order of the possible,' this collection is a wander into the psycho-geographical landscape of the mind's eye. The interconnection of hidden thoughts and feelings that affect our lives is vividly portrayed. The paintings depict an emergence from the raw confines of the body - souls becoming powerful, fearless beings who exist wholly in relation to each other.
