Open Garden for The National Garden Scheme

His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell have been keen to open the garden to the public for charity ever since they arrived on the island. The Walled Garden is not often seen and is an impressive 1,700 square meters, all restored over the last 3-4 years to reflect its traditional origins as a Victorian Walled Garden. 

Mrs Cripwell is patron of the Guernsey branch of the National Garden Scheme and was thrilled to cut the yellow ribbon and officially open the garden to the public from 12-4 on that beautiful sunny Saturday. The Guernsey branch is run by the Queen's Nurses, of which there are currently 9 on the island and the money raised by the NGS goes to Nursing Charities across the UK. 

More than 300 people came in to support the charity and were treated to tea in china cups with a huge choice of cakes and music in one of the gardens, all served by staff from Government House with help from The Queen's Nurses and their friends who came so willingly as volunteers. Grow Ltd was also there to sell native plants and talk to visitors about their work and the Queen's Nurses stand was kept busy all afternoon telling people about the work they do and what they can achieve with the money raised.
