Long Service Awards for Scouts
Volunteers from the Scouting Association were presented with their Long Service Awards
The Lieutenant-Governor presented 17 awards to volunteers within the scouts association including Long Service awards ranging from 5 to 40 years plus 4 Commissioners Commendations and the first King's Scout Award in the Bailiwick.
Whilst all the awards come with thanks and appreciation for their work with young people, some awards particularly stick in the mind. Kaylee Robins was the recipient of the King's Scout Award which requires extreme commitment to gain and was also a recipient of the Commissioner Commendation alongside Joe Morris for their work at the ill-fated World Scouts Jamboree in South Korea last year which hit the headlines after suffering a heatwave, typhoon and accusations of a lack of preparation by the organisers. Taking care of young people is a heavy responsibility but so far away and under such conditions warrants certainly warrants special mention.
His Excellency toasted all the recipients and thanked them for their continuing hard work in an ever changing world.
