King's Award for Enterprise

The King’s Award for Enterprise was created in 1965 and is the highest official UK award for British businesses. Camp de Reves, a family-run managed glampsite in St Peter’s that was opened in 2020 by Danny and Jane Barnes, is the first business in the Bailiwick to win the award, having been recognised for its Sustainable Development, one of the Award’s four categories.

The team’s commitment to sustainability extends across the whole business. For example: they don’t use poison or pesticides; they have planted thousands of indigenous trees; they grow organic fruit and vegetables and maintain an organic butterfly meadow.

They are one of only 197 organisations recognised nationally this year across the Award’s four categories and only one of 27 awarded for Sustainable Businesses. Danny met His Majesty at a reception at Windsor earlier this year and this was an opportunity for family and friends and the wider business community to share in their achievement and congratulate the team on their success.
