Investiture of The Reverend Penny Graysmith
The Reverend Penny Graysmith took over as the new parish priest at the Town Church on 1st March 2023 and has been working towards her ideas to further develop the church environment into a more inclusive environment. Her aim being to nurture a church network that is a warm and welcoming place for everyone.
Having been one of the first women to be ordained as a priest in 1994, Reverend Graysmith turned her hand to supporting those in palliative care in the hospitals and hospices before coming to the island in 2017. Her husband Peter had been employed as the chaplain of Elizabeth College and she was found employment as Chaplain of the prison.
She was very much looking forward to the change in direction as the priest in charge having been a member of the congress and member of the choir at the Town Church and hopes to continue in the choir and encourage more people to enjoy the musical offerings at the church, joining the choir or even taking up bell ringing.
His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell have met with Reverend Graysmith on many occasions since she took up her post and are pleased to be invited to the ceremony that will celebrate her new position in the Church.
