Investiture of Jo Reeve BEM
His Excellency awarded Mr Reeve the British Empire Medal for services to the Government.
Friends, family and colleagues were invited to Government House to celebrate the presentation of a BEM to Jo Reeve.
Jo has been a civil servant since returning to the island after university in 1998 and joined the External Affairs team in 2008.
The BEM is primarily for his work leading the Guernsey States' response to Brexit, which was able to be put into action quickly in the wake of the decision, much of that work being adopted by the States of Jersey and the Government of the Isle of Man.
Additionally, Jo was invaluable during the pandemic where he worked with the UK to ensure Guernsey secured its supply lines.
In his speech, Jo thanked all of his colleague in the External relations team as he considered this a team effort all round. Jo also made mention of his colleagues in the offices in Brussels and Caen with whom he worked closely during the Brexit negotiations. It is a testament to Jo that so many of his team joined him at the investiture and felt the honour was well deserved for a colleague they really valued.
