Gold Awards for the Guernsey Girl Guides

Lady Cripwell, as patron the Girl guiding Guernsey, hosting the gold awards at Government House with 11 Rainbows and 22 Brownies attending to collect their badges and certificates.

The awards are available to all sections (Rainbows 4 to 7 years, Brownies 7 to 10 years, Guides 10 to 14 years and Rangers 14 to 18 years).

To gain a Gold Award the girls need to have completed 6 Theme awards and an extra challenge which changes depending upon their age group. The Theme awards are awarded when they have completed a Skills Builder and an Interest Badge. All the activities are fun to do but it takes dedication to complete the number of hours needed and these girls have put in the time and energy required.

And if the noise and super lively atmosphere in the ballroom is anything to go by, these girls had more than enough energy to complete their gold awards and keep on doing so for years to come. Their parents gathered round to take photos and the girls grinned proudly as they were congratulated and applauded.

It's the last round of gold awards as Bailiwick Commissioner and Assistant Commisioner for Colette Merrien and Fern Dorey, having done 5 years each in their roles and they are ready to stand down at the end of the year and return to their positions as leaders. They have been excellent in their roles and Lady Cripwell and the staff at Government House have been grateful for their guidance (see what I did there...?) for both Girlguiding Guernsey and for Lady Cripwell as patron.
