Getting to know the locals!
The Lieutenant-Governor and Mrs Cripwell have donned their wellies to visit some of our cutest and hairiest island residents.
His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell really enjoyed visiting the fur and feather tents at the Summer Shows this year and very keenly expressed an interest in visiting some of the local farms. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for them in the Autumn as they head out to visit Peter Bougourd's pig farm on the 5th October and Peter Girard's Goat Farm on the 11th October.
The Golden Guernsey goat is a rare breed goat indigenous to Guernsey and Peter and Mandy Girard have the largest single herd of 25. They use the milk to produce butter yogurt and a very creamy local cheese that His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell are very keen to sample.
And as for the pig farm, they described their visit as "just the best fun!"
