Duchess of Edinburgh back in Guernsey
Her Royal Highness visited the Islands for the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO) Guernsey Small Ships Race.
Just a few weeks after The King and Queen visited the Channel Islands, Sophie, The Duchess of Edinburgh visited the island on 12 August ahead of a cross-channel sailing contest.
As patron of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO), the Duchess met with about 140 of the young competitors and took to the water herself aboard the Association's Sailing ship 'Prolific' for a jaunt in local waters.
The competition being held by ASTO is the Guernsey-Poole Small Ships Race which runs from the 13 to 15 August and is open to sail training boats where at least half the crew are under 25 years of age.
The Association also held a reception with the Duchess as they are looking to establish a link with the Bailiwick from which young islanders can benefit in the future, taking part in sailing adventures as part of the association.
