Book Launch - Life Lives Beyond the Grave
His Excellency was asked to write a forward for the new book which tracks the story of the Military Cemetery at Fort George and the 111 German Servicemen who were buried there between 1940 and 1943.
A quote from the foreward by The Lieutenant-Governor:
I commend this book most strongly, not just as a valuable addition to understanding the shared history between Guernsey and Germany but also as an important contribution to the ongoing peace and relationship that exists between us.
Selected guests with an interest in the subject were invited to attend the launch, see the book in its published state and speak to the authors, Simon Hamon and Karsten Aidan.
There was also an opportunity to purchase the book, published by local company, Blue Ormer and have it signed by the authors. However, on the day, Simon Hamon was unable to make an appearance due to Covid so those who bought the book that evening found themselves with a half the signatures, perhaps a rarer book in years to come!
There was a lovely buzz about the reception with the appearance of Mustard the dog to greet the visitors and ensure they all come in safely out of the rain.
