BEM Investiture for Mrs Gerry Le Roy

Mrs Gerry Le Roy was invited to Government House with the Bailiff, Chief Minister and 25 of her family, friends and colleagues, for His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor to award her the British Empire Medal for services to public health in Guernsey.

Mrs Le Roy has dedicated her life to heart health both through her career as a Cardiac Specialist Nurse and as the founder and volunteer for the charity Cardiac Action Group.

In 2012 she joined forces with the Chief Ambulance Officer to launch Guernsey’s first Public Access Defibrillator programme.  Since then, her charity has placed AEDs in more than 150 sites and delivered resuscitation training to more than 9,700 islanders.  Her interventions saved the lives of 23 islanders between 2022-2024, through successful operation of the charity’s defibrillators.

The investiture was a double celebration as it was also Mrs Le Roy's 80th birthday.
