A visit to the Folk Museum
His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell found out more about the National trust in Guernsey on 7th October.
The National Trust of Guernsey states it's cause as:
"To preserve and enhance Guernsey's heritage and its natural beauty, including its historic buildings, open spaces and plant and animal life."
The Trust owns a number of properties and areas of countryside in Guernsey including the Cornet Street Shop and Les Caches which can be hired for events and Fermain Tower which is available for holiday rental. The Trust relies entirely on membership, donations and bequests to maintain it and houses exhibitions and events to help keep its funds topped up.
The Lieutenant-Governor and his wife enjoyed a tour of the Folk and Costume Museum in Saumarez Park, with Manager Jake Le Gallez, and met some of the trustees to learn more about the work of the National Trust in Guernsey.
