A Visit to Guernsey Fire and Rescue
The Lieutenant-Governor and Mrs Cripwell headed over to the Guernsey Fire Service for a tour of the premises.
Continuing their tour of the Emergency Services on the Island, His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell visited the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service who are celebrating their centenary year, 100 years since the service was brought under the States of Guernsey.
As part of their celebrations, the have created a nominal roll board of all personnel who have worked for the service since it began in 1922. The Lieutenant-Governor was asked to unveil the board as part of his visit to the station.
The party then continued on to meet many of those on duty that day, to see the running of the station and to view the fire engines in all their glory. A trip up on the top of the ladder was an absolute highlight for Mrs Cripwell who went as high as they could go. On this occasion, His Excellency was more than happy to relinquish the honour to Louise and watch from the safety of the tarmac.
