A visit to Blanchelande College
Founded in 1902 as a small school for girls by a French order of Nuns, Blanchelande College is now a thriving private Roman Catholic school offering education from age 2 and a half through to age 18. They introduced boys to the senior school for the first time in September 2015 and now educate 460 boys and girls from a range of backgrounds and beliefs.
His Excellency was invited to meet with the Principal, Governors, Head boy and girl and Chaplain and to do a tour of the school and grounds and to address the children in assembly to celebrate their 25th Anniversary of their move the building at the Vauxbelets.
The visit started with the official opening and blessing of the new playground, built for the primary school over the summer holidays by the Estate Team at the college and paid for with funds raised by the PTFA. His Excellency was asked to cut the ribbon and unveil the commemorative plaque and to say a few words to the pupils in the primary school who were excited to play on their brand new equipment.
The weather did manage to hold out for them and His Excellency continued with a tour of the grounds of the senior school, meeting some of the teachers, estate team and pupils and viewing their outdoor sports ad eco facilities. He then had a tour of the classrooms before finishing with an address to the senior school pupils in assembly.
