Guernsey Voluntary Service
As patron of the GVS, Mrs Cripwell was delighted to be asked to present the awards for Long Service, enabling her to meet so many of the wonderful volunteers who give of their time so freely to help with the activities.
The services offered include Meals on Wheels, transporting clients, helping at the Russels and jubilee Day Centres and some volunteers spend time raising much needed funds for the organisation.
There were 25 Long Service Awards being presented on the night and a further 12 who were unable to attend the ceremony. There were 11 Bronze Awards recognizing 10 years of service, six silver awards who were presented with a silver badge representing 15 years of service and another six gold badge presented for 20 years of loyal service.
Most impressive were the two platinum awards which were slim line vases beautifully inscribed with their names and a certificate. These were awards to Mrs Jean Farnham and Mrs Jacqui de Garis who have each been volunteering with the GVS for 30 years.
Mrs Cripwell congratulated all the award winners and thanked them for their years of dedication.
