Visit to the Dyslexia Day Centre

As their new patron, Mrs Cripwell was very keen to find out how the centre runs and to meet the staff who are so passionate about helping the Island's children achieve their full potential.

Mike and Theresa O'Hara, the founders of the Centre, met with Mrs Cripwell to show them round the facilities and explain what they do there, offering specialist tuition, assessments and support to children referred to them from the Education system and to anyone affected by Dyslexia, even in adulthood.

The team also go out into the schools, running additional lessons and supporting children who require more help.

The Centre is given a grant by the education system but it also relies heavily on volunteers and fundraising events. Dyslexia Day Centre Group Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser window

Mrs Cripwell met with some of the support staff there and also had a chat with some of the children who are benefiting from the dedication of this wonderful institution.
