Saffery Rotary Walk 2021 Presentations

The Saffery Rotary Walk around the island, postponed from 2020 due to coronavirus, went ahead in glorious weather on 5th June this year.

His Excellency and Lady Corder, once again, hosted a reception at Government House to present Cheques to the charity recipients and prizes to some of the walkers brave enough to complete the gruelling 39 mile walk around the island.

The organisers had commissioned a short video from Buzz Video using a drone to make a wonderful commemorative 4 minutes of the whole event that was viewed during the reception.

For those who didn't spot him, His Excellency also completed the walk as he has done every year during his time as Lieutenant-Governor of the Bailiwick. Even in 2020 when the walk had to be postponed, the Lieutenant-Governor donned a t-shirt and set off to do the walk so the organisers could rightfully say that the walk has been completed every year for 24 years.

As patron of the charity, Sir Ian thanked the organisers and also the charities for their ongoing hard work and said a sobering few words about the value of the third sector in an island with such a small population and the importance of their commitment to working with the public sector to do more to secure the welfare of our community.
