Saffery Rotary Walk Reception
On Wednesday 9th September, His Excellency and Lady Corder hosted a reception at Government House attended by representatives of the Saffery Rotary Walk committee and 10 charities who benefited from generous donations made in lieu of this year's cancelled round the island walk. Unfortunately this year's Walk was unable to go ahead following the COVID-19 pandemic, however the total sum of £17,500 was split between 10 benefiting charities - thanks to generous corporate donations by Walk sponsors, and donated entry fees from individuals who signed up to complete this year's Walk.
His Excellency was joined by his son, Alex, and 3 of the Lieutenant-Governor's Cadets to complete the Walk route this year as a symbolic gesture of all that was going on behind the scenes in response to the cancelation this year's Walk, and to pay tribute to those whose efforts and support were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
