3rd time round the Island!

The walk was designed to raise awareness of Guernsey's annual Saffery Rotary Walk which is due to take place on 15 Jun and which hopefully will see many hundreds of Islanders complete the 38.8 mile trek around the coastal path aiming to raise money for 23 selected charities and community projects.

Sir Ian has been a keen supporter of the event since his first arrival in Guernsey and has undertaken to complete the walk every year he is in post.  In 2017 he and Lady Kathryn were able to participate in the main walk itself but, for the last two years, other commitments on the day have meant that Sir Ian has had to complete the trip a few weeks earlier.  Commenting on this he said 'It cant compete for atmosphere with the main walk, which is huge fun, but at least completing the walk a few weeks in advance may help remind people that the event is approaching and may just encourage a few extra participants'. He also added 'It really is the best way to appreciate our beautiful coastline, seeing it on foot and in one go, and there is a huge sense of satisfaction at completing a significant personal challenge at the same time as helping raise money for some really important island projects and causes.  I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about it to sign up and give it a go.'
