Dementia Awareness Training at Government House
His Excellency, Lady Corder and the staff of Government House have all taken part in training to become Dementia Friends. The aim of the training session, which lasts around an hour and is led by a local volunteer Dementia Champion, is to improve understanding of dementia and how it affects people who are living with it. The training included techniques to challenge the way we think about the condition and to improve awareness of the effects it can have on the brain and on a person's behaviour.
The Lieutenant-Governor said that the training was valuable and issued a challenge: 'Let's see if we can get the whole of the Bailiwick to become Dementia Friends.'
