This morning (5 May) saw a group of excited pre-school children from Melrose School visit Government House to learn all about bee-keeping and honey making.  They were met by Head Gardener Gary Le Poidevin and Lady Corder both dressed up in proper bee-keeping suits!

The children learned how a bee hive is constructed and organised, the roles of the different types of bees within the hive, and how the honey is made and then extracted. They watched the bees coming and going from the hives (all from a safe distance!) then had a taste of the honey produced drizzled over some flapjack and chocolate maltezser 'bees' made especially by the Government House chefs.
