Visit to Guernsey Clematis Nursery
This Wednesday morning (19th Apr) the Lieutenant-Governor and Lady Corder spent a couple of hours touring the Guernsey Clematis Nursery's production nursery at Braye Road, Route Militaire. They were hosted by Raymond Evison OBE VMH, owner and founder of the business and shown around by the nursery's two directors, Lindsay Reid and Paul Ingrouille. They also met with several members of staff.
Sir Ian and Kathryn were introduced to the various techniques for cultivating new varieties of clematis together with the processes for bringing them into full production. They were shown a number of the newest varieties and then briefed on plans for Raymond's forthcoming display at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show at which he has been a regular and hugely successful exhibitor.
At the end of their visit, His Excellency and Lady Corder were presented with three specimens of the nursery's latest varieties together with a book on the subject written by Mr Evison.
