Return visit to GO

HE & Lady Corder talk with GO trainees Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser windowThis Tuesday morning (28 Mar), His Excellency and Lady Corder paid their second visit to GO, having previously attended in August the opening of the 2nd GO premises on New Road on the Bridge.

GO is a charity that, through the operation of its two shops, prepares young people for work who, for whatever reason, may otherwise have had problems entering the workplace. Specifically it aims to build confidence, social skills, and to teach the importance of working as part of a team.

This time they visited both GO shops meeting with volunteers, staff and trainees.  They were hosted by Sarah Bamford MBE (Chairman) and Peter Whotton (Financial Director) and shown around by Tom Williams, a previous trainee, who now manages the furniture side of the enterprise.

Both the Lieutenant-Governor and Lady Corder were hugely impressed with the commitment of all those they met and the quality of the restoration work being undertaken.  Sir Ian even put an order in for a bookshelf for his office!
