Lt Governor meets the 'Long Arm of the Law'

This Tuesday (7 Mar) saw His Excellency and Lady Corder pay their first visit to Guernsey's Law Enforcement Offices since taking over in post.

In a fascinating visit, they met with Mr Pat Rice (Head of Law Enforcement) and senior command team members responsible for police operations, border control, countering economic crime, and corporate support services. Meeting JESCC Staff Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser window Following introductory discussions on the many complex law enforcement issues facing the Bailiwick, they went on to look around some of the offices and facilities, and met a number of staff members including those working in the Island's Joint Emergency Services Control Centre (JESCC).

In summing up the visit, Sir Ian remarked that  'As well as providing citizens with essential protection from criminal activity, Guernsey's Law Enforcement organisations are essential in maintaining the Bailiwick's international reputation as a good place to do business.  I was very grateful for the opportunity today to see what they do first hand and to have the chance to meet some of their highly dedicated personnel'.
