Channel Islands Air Search
Channel Islands Air Search is a voluntary organisation providing a rapid response airborne search and rescue service in the 4,000 square mile area around the Channel Islands and adjacent French coast. CIAS operates on a 24 hour, 365 day basis in all weathers, and works in conjunction with lifeboats and other rescue craft.
A new aircraft, fitted with state of the art equipment, is due for delivery during 2017; until then, an interim aeroplane is being used.
The Friends of Air Search throughout the Islands work to raise funds to cover the service's annual operating costs of approximately £140,000.
